Secondary schools: apply for the Polar Explorer grant award
November 8, 2018 - January 11, 2019
The Polar Explorer grant award is open to all state-funded secondary schools that wish to improve the transition in STEM subjects from primary to secondary using the Polar Explorer programme to underpin this.
Deadline for applications is 11 January 2019
Secondary schools can apply for an award of £2,500, which aims to focus on the following four areas, the key to the successful transition of pupils in STEM subjects from primary to secondary:
- science leadership
- quality of collaboration between science teachers
- involving pupils in science activities during the transition
- ensuring continuity and progression in the science curriculum and pedagogy
To apply, secondary schools are encouraged to work collaboratively with their chosen feeder primary schools and complete both a short self-evaluation of their current work, and forward action plan.
